For the 30 “key” central enterprises specified by the SASAC, various indicators such as energy consumption, water consumption and the emission of major pollutants, in major production and operation businesses have achieved the best result in history, and more than one third of them have reached or are close to international advanced levels.
Based on the above target, the breakdown on energy conservation and emission reduction for the examination on the business performance in the second term (2007-2009) is as follows:
For the petroleum sector various specific indicators of major products shall reach or come close to international standards, and energy consumption shall be reduced by 16 percent compared to the value in 2005, emission of SO2 shall be reduced by 9.3 percent, emission of COD shall be reduced by 8.4 percent and new water consumption per unit value shall be reduced by 24 percent.
For the iron and steel sector consumption of major products in key enterprises shall reach international standards. Energy consumption shall be reduced by 16 percent compared with the value in 2005. Comprehensive energy consumption of steel per metric ton shall be reduced by 10 percent, the emission of SO2 shall be reduced by 16 percent and emission of COD shall be reduced by 23 percent.
For the electric power sector the average coal consumption on power supply shall come close to international standards, and shall be reduced by 5.1 percent compared with the value in 2005, and the emission of SO2 shall be reduced by 27.8 percent.
For the chemical sector consumption of major products shall reach international standards. Energy consumption shall be reduced by 16 percent compared with the value in 2005, and the emission of SO2 and COD shall be reduced by 8 percent.
For the coal sector, coal recovery rates in the mining area shall be maintained at domestic standards. Energy consumption shall be reduced by 16 percent compared with the value in 2005, and the emission of SO2 and COD shall be reduced by 8 percent.
